A lyrics and setlist app for solo singers: what is free

StageFloww, the setlist and stage-lyrics app, has a Free plan that covers 1 active setlist of up to 40 songs, with Live Mode and auto-scroll on a phone or tablet of any brand. A foot pedal changes songs; it does not scroll the lyrics. It shows lyrics and chords, not sheet music.

What does a solo singer get on the Free plan?

Enough for a regular gig. These are the exact limits:

Free plan
Setlists you own1 active setlist
Songs in that setlistup to 40 songs
Extra setlists you ownopen view-only; Live Mode still works on them
Live Mode, auto-scroll, song search, English-letter lyricsincluded, with no quota
Costfree, with no card asked for

A 7-day Pro trial starts when you sign in. When it ends the account moves to Free and nothing is deleted. If you had built more than the Free plan allows, the extra setlists stay readable and playable in Live Mode; you cannot edit them.

For one person playing a similar set each week, that is usually the whole need: keep the active setlist and edit it between gigs.

How do you set up for a gig on the Free plan?

  1. Sign in. Use Google or an email and password, in the browser on the phone or tablet you will play from.
  2. Add your songs. Type a title, or a line of the lyric if the title has gone. Search needs a connection. The song search page shows what it can find.
  3. Put the lyrics in. Paste your own. StageFloww can also fetch lyrics where they are available, but not every song has them.
  4. Add chords if you play. Chords are fetched where available and merged with the lyrics by AI, or you paste your own ChordPro text. You can transpose, set a capo and edit. Chord accuracy varies. Check each chart before the gig.
  5. Set the order. Drag songs into place in the running order and set each key. The builder shows the total minutes.
  6. Open each song once. This step matters most on the night, and the reason is in the section on venue Wi-Fi below.
  7. Start Live Mode. Prop the device up and play.

Not sure how many songs fill your slot? The set length calculator works it out from the gig length and your average song.

What do you see on stage, and what moves the lyrics?

Live Mode is a full-screen dark view with large lyrics, chords, the key and the BPM. Tap or pinch to change the text size. A next-song button moves you on, and a drawer shows what is playing now and what is up next.

Auto-scroll moves the lyrics, so both hands stay on the guitar. A pedal does a different job. A Bluetooth pedal moves to the next or previous song. It is not a page turner: it does not scroll the lyrics. Auto-scroll does that. Any Bluetooth pedal or keyboard that sends PageDown, PageUp, an arrow key, Space or Enter will do this. No pedal brand is certified; it works by key press.

More on reading from a screen is on the page about lyrics on stage.

What if the venue Wi-Fi drops?

Lyrics you have already opened on a device are kept in that browser's storage, so Live Mode keeps showing them. There is no download button, and browser storage is limited, so do not assume a song you have never opened will be there.

Before the gig, open each song in the setlist once on the device you will use, while you are online.

Song search and fetching lyrics or chords need a connection. Do those at home.

When does a solo act need Pro?

When you want more than 1 active setlist, for example a separate set for a restaurant and for a wedding, or a setlist longer than 40 songs. Pro is ₹499 a month or ₹3,999 a year. That is the price in India. Outside India, Pro is charged by card in your region's currency: US$79.99 a year in the United States, £64.99 in the UK, €79.99 in euro countries and A$119.99 in Australia. Other countries pay in US dollars, between US$14.99 and US$79.99 a year depending on the country. The pricing page lists what changes.

If you play as a pair, or want song requests from the room, read the page for acoustic duos and solo acts taking requests.

Good fit

  • A singer with a guitar or keys who reads lyrics from a phone or tablet
  • A regular gig whose set fits within the Free plan limits
  • Players who want lyrics to scroll without touching the screen
  • Singers who keep chords above the words

Not the right tool

  • Players who read sheet music or PDF charts
  • Acts that sing to backing tracks
  • Anyone who wants a pedal to scroll the lyrics line by line
  • Singers who expect the lyrics of each song to be supplied for them

Questions and answers

What does the Free plan include?

The Free plan gives you 1 active setlist with up to 40 songs, and includes Live Mode, band sync, song search and English-letter lyrics. Extra setlists you own open view-only, and Live Mode still works on them. Setlists a band leader shares with you never count toward the limit.

Can I use a Bluetooth foot pedal?

Yes, for changing songs. A Bluetooth pedal or keyboard that sends PageDown, PageUp, arrow keys, Space or Enter moves to the next or previous song in Live Mode. A Bluetooth pedal moves to the next or previous song. It is not a page turner: it does not scroll the lyrics. Auto-scroll does that. No pedal brand is tested or certified; what matters is which keys the pedal sends.

Does StageFloww work without internet?

Partly. Lyrics you have already opened on a device are kept in that browser's storage, so Live Mode keeps showing them if the venue Wi-Fi drops. There is no download button and storage is limited. Before the gig, open each song in the setlist once on the device you will use, while you are online. Song search, lyric and chord fetch, band sync, band signals and audience requests all need a connection.

Does StageFloww show chords?

Yes. Chords are fetched where available and merged with the lyrics by AI, or you paste your own ChordPro text. You can transpose, set a capo and edit the chart. Chord accuracy varies. Check each chart before the gig. StageFloww shows chords as text above the lyrics; it does not display sheet music or PDF charts.

Do I need a tablet, or is a phone enough for a solo gig?

A phone is enough. Live Mode fills the screen with large lyrics, and you tap or pinch to change the text size, so a song is readable on a phone clipped to a mic stand or on a tablet on a music stand. StageFloww runs in the browser on Android phones, iPhones and tablets. The screen stays awake where the browser supports it.
