What does band sync actually sync?
The song position. When the leader moves to the next song, each signed-in member's screen moves to that song. When the leader starts or pauses auto-scroll, followers' auto-scroll starts or pauses too. How far down the lyrics each screen has got is not matched.
If the leader jumps to song nine because the dance floor has filled, the bass player's phone and the keyboard player's tablet land on song nine too.
It does not sync audio. There is no shared click, count-in or backing track. Text size and the choice between original script and English letters are set on each device, so a singer who reads Tamil and a guitarist who does not can look at the same song in different letters.
Sync runs over the internet, not over Bluetooth or a local link between phones. Each device needs its own connection, through venue Wi-Fi or mobile data.
What does each member need?
- The invite. The leader shares the setlist as an invite link with View or Edit access, as a QR code, or on WhatsApp, where it arrives as a message with the setlist name, the date, the first few songs with their keys and a link to the full set.
- A free account. Members sign in before they can follow. Joining costs them nothing.
- A browser. Any mix of Android phones, iPhones, tablets and laptops. There is nothing to install.
- A connection at the gig.
A member who receives a setlist can also copy it into their own account to use for a gig of their own. If your band shares a PDF in a group chat today, setlist app or WhatsApp PDF sets out when that is still enough.
What happens when a phone loses signal?
This is the case to rehearse, so here it is exactly.
- The phone that lost signal stays on the song it was showing. Nothing goes blank. Lyrics already opened on that device are kept in the browser's storage and stay readable.
- That phone stops following. The rest of the band, still connected, carries on following the leader.
- The member can tap next on their own screen to catch up by hand. That moves their screen only.
- StageFloww retries the connection by itself for several minutes. When it reconnects, the screen jumps to the song the leader is on. After a longer outage, leaving Live Mode and opening the setlist again reconnects it.
- If the leader's phone is the one without signal, nobody receives the changes until it is back. Each member moves by hand in the meantime.
There is no download button and storage is limited, so a song nobody opened on that phone may not be there. Before the gig, open each song in the setlist once on the device you will use, while you are online.
How does the band leader run the show?
Advance, cue and reorder mid-show
Advance with the next-song button in Live Mode. To change the order, open the setlist drawer and pull a song up to play next; the new order reaches the members' setlists as well. When you accept an audience request, the same thing happens: see song requests by QR code.
Band signals are silent coloured cues sent to the band's screens, such as "key up", "slow down" or "last chorus". You can add custom cues and choose from six colours. Cues need a connection too.
Who pays and who joins free?
The band leader pays, or stays on the Free plan. Members join free and get Live Mode and sync. A setlist a leader shares with a member never counts toward that member's own Free-plan limit. The pricing page has the plan table.
What is missing for band admin?
StageFloww is a stage tool. It has no band calendar, no availability polls, no contracts and no way to split the fee between members. Keep using whatever you use now for those. The full feature list shows everything that is and is not included.
For a full night with a mixed-phone band, from the WhatsApp invite to the last song, see StageFloww for cover bands.
